What holds it back most is that the human moment sits at the edge of the frame with backs turned, so the storytelling reads secondary to the environment. The taxi's tail lights and the layered kanji signs do heavy lifting for mood. Tightening the relationship between the figures and their gesture would sharpen the moment.

The frame layers well: taxi anchoring the foreground, two figures mid-ground, and a deep neon-lit alley receding on the left. That diagonal street pull creates genuine depth. The mixed neon does exactly what night street work wants — cool blues and cyans against warm reds and the amber storefront glow, wrapping the scene in a coherent cyberpunk palette. The taxi's tail lights punch warmth into the foreground, and the streetlight halo adds atmosphere down the alley.
