Pulling the highlights down a touch in processing would recover skin detail. The overall brightness reads deliberate rather than accidental, supporting the delicate mood.

The black-and-white conversion is handled with care. Skin tones render smooth and luminous, the tonal range runs from the deep shadow of the wall to bright highlights without feeling flat, and the gradation across the face is gentle. Contrast is moderate and mood-appropriate rather than punchy. The gingham pattern adds a small graphic tension at the base. Slightly deeper blacks in the darkest wall areas would add anchor without disturbing the soft, filmic feel that suits the subject.

The rendering is soft overall, which reads as a deliberate stylistic choice suited to the intimate mood, but the near lashes and eyelid edge — the natural focal point in a portrait like this — could be crisper. With the eyes downcast, focus appears to land somewhere between the brow and cheek rather than nailing the lash line, softening the moment slightly. Depth of field looks shallow enough to separate the subject from the wall, which works well. Noise is well controlled and the tonal transitions are clean, suggesting a low ISO and adequate light. The framing choice to crop through the chest is the main execution issue rather than a gear fault. For a portrait, sharpening the plane of the eyes and lashes would elevate the technical read considerably; focusing on the nearest eye and stopping down marginally would give a touch more of the face in critical focus while keeping the background soft.
