A confident low-angle blue-hour street scene that uses a wet pavement to double the illuminated streetcar and city lights. The lit red-and-white tram against the deep blue sky sliver is the anchor, and the reflection carries genuine atmosphere. What most holds it back is that the foreground road eats nearly the bottom half of the frame with little payoff beyond the reflection — the composition sags there, and the streetcar is squeezed into a thin band. The blue sky gap between buildings is a nice touch that could have been given more room. Strong instinct for timing and colour, execution needs tightening.

The low ground-level angle is a smart choice, turning the wet street into a mirror for the tram and skyline. The streetcar sits as a horizontal spine across the upper third, and the sliver of blue sky between towers adds depth. But the dark foreground occupies close to half the frame and reads as dead weight — the reflection alone doesn't justify that much space. The sign post on the right and the traffic pole crowd the edges. A slightly higher angle or tighter crop would give the tram more presence.

Blue hour is caught at the right moment — the residual blue in the sky gap balances against the warm interior glow and red signals of the streetcar. The lit tram windows provide the scene's energy, with figures visible inside, and the reflections spread that light convincingly across the wet road. The illuminated building windows layer nicely behind. It is a well-observed mix of ambient dusk and artificial light, the kind of balance cityscape work depends on, though the overall level runs dark and could hold more presence.

Exposure is protective of the highlights — the bright tram windows and interior lights hold detail rather than blowing out, which is the harder call here. The trade-off is a foreground that falls into near-black with little recoverable texture, and shadow areas around the tram base that muddy. The blue sky retains gradation. Overall it reads slightly underexposed for the scene, and lifting the shadows modestly would open the pavement and the figures on the platform without sacrificing the window highlights.

The colour palette is the image's strength — deep teal-blue sky and shadows set against the warm red of the streetcar and the amber interior glow make for a satisfying complementary contrast. White balance leans cool, which suits blue hour and lets the warm lights pop. Reflections carry the colour convincingly. Blacks are rich, perhaps a touch crushed in the road. The mid-tones in the darker areas could use a little more separation, but the overall grade is coherent and atmospheric.

Focus appears placed on the streetcar and platform, which is the right plane, and the tram itself is acceptably sharp given the low light. The wide, low vantage captures a strong reflection but the extreme foreground is soft and featureless, which underscores how little it contributes. Noise is controlled reasonably well in the darker regions, suggesting a careful exposure or a steady support rather than a pushed ISO. Depth of field seems adequate front-to-back, though the near pavement blur hints at a fairly close focus point and a moderately open aperture. Without a tripod evident, camera stability at dusk is a risk, and there's mild softness overall that could stem from a slow handheld shutter. A stopped-down aperture on a stable base would sharpen the whole frame edge to edge, and framing to reduce the dead foreground would put the resolution where it matters — on the tram and its reflection.

What would elevate it

1 A tighter crop trimming the lower foreground would give the streetcar and its reflection more presence in the frame.
2 Lifting the shadows modestly in post would reveal texture in the wet road and the figures on the platform without clipping the tram windows.
3 A stable support with a stopped-down aperture would sharpen the whole scene edge to edge and reduce the near-pavement softness.
