The mood and colour are the real strengths; tightening the composition and lifting the shadow detail would sharpen the impact.

The S-curve of the road and tracks is the standout element, leading cleanly to the tram and giving real depth. The three silhouetted figures on the left add human scale, and the green truss balances the right. The forest of vertical poles and overhead wires creates strong graphic rhythm but also visual clutter that fights the subject. The lower third is dominated by empty road that carries little interest. A slightly higher vantage or longer lens would let the tram command more of the frame.

The low sunset light is the image's biggest asset, bathing the scene in warm amber and rim-lighting the poles and wires. Backlighting turns the figures and much of the ironwork into clean silhouettes, which suits the mood. The direction gives the tracks a subtle sheen that reinforces the leading line. The soft, hazy sky sits close to the tram's brightness, so the subject doesn't fully separate from its background — timing a few minutes later, or positioning against a darker patch, would give more punch.

Exposure is judged for the sky, holding the warm gradient and avoiding blown highlights around the sun, which is the right call. The trade-off is that the road, tram body and lower foreground fall into muddy shadow with limited recoverable detail. The tram's front, the key subject, is dim and lacks the tonal separation to pop. The overall balance reads deliberate rather than accidental, but a half-stop lift or shadow recovery in post would reveal more of the tram and roadway texture.

The warm amber-to-gold palette is cohesive and carries the sunset mood convincingly, with the muted green truss providing welcome contrast. White balance leans warm, which works here. Contrast is moderate and the highlight roll-off in the sky is smooth. Saturation feels natural rather than pushed. The main limitation is in the shadows, which tend toward flat and slightly murky rather than rich — a touch more depth in the darkest tones and a gentle clarity lift would give the metalwork more definition.

Focus appears to sit on the mid-distance tracks and the tram, which is the right target, and the tram itself is acceptably sharp for its size in the frame. The out-of-focus foreground poles framing the edges suggest a longer focal length compressing the scene, which flatters the layering of poles and truss. Depth of field looks moderate — enough to hold the tram and figures while softening the nearest verticals. Noise is well controlled in the sky and not intrusive in the shadows. The compression is used effectively to stack the catenary structure, though it also amplifies the wire clutter. Handheld sharpness holds up, with no obvious motion blur despite the low light. A slightly smaller aperture would have brought the framing poles into cleaner focus, or a wider one would have thrown them fully soft for a more deliberate frame; the current in-between state reads slightly indecisive. Overall a solid, competent capture with sound focus priorities.
