Tighter attention to the busy grass tufts at right and a touch more separation on the hindquarters, which blend into shadow, would sharpen the read.

The trade-off is a lack of directional modelling, so the coat reads a little flat and the form of the body loses dimension against the dark background. A slight shadow lift there, or exposure biased marginally brighter, would recover that form without risking the bright fur.

The palette is naturally muted — greys and buffs in the coat set against saturated forest greens. White balance sits believably neutral, with the fur reading true rather than warm or cold. Contrast is on the gentle side, matching the overcast light but leaving the image feeling slightly soft in punch. The greens are a touch heavy and could pull attention. A modest contrast lift on the wolf and a small desaturation of the background greens would let the subject sit forward more cleanly.

Focus lands accurately on the near eye, which is the decisive factor in wildlife work, and detail carries through the muzzle and chest fur. Depth of field is well chosen: shallow enough to melt the background into a soft, dark wash yet deep enough to keep the whole head and forward body acceptably sharp. There is no visible motion blur, consistent with a still, resting subject, and noise is well controlled in the shadows. The lens rendering is clean with pleasant background falloff. The main technical opportunities are marginal: the plane of focus favours the head, so the rear paw and hindquarters soften slightly, and a fraction more depth of field would have held the whole animal crisp without sacrificing the background separation. Overall this is confident, competent capture — sharp where it counts, with a clean and deliberate rendering of the subject against its habitat.
